So, We recorded Apathy yesterday (1st set recorded in new studio - still have a lot of work to do on it, but am super pleased to have things functional) and I have 3 versions of it that I’d like to share. One from several years ago, recorded live just in front of a laptop. The one that Collin and I recorded yesterday, and the one that I’m going to create very soon using the lead guitar part that Collin laid down yesterday and recording the rest of the tracks independently. For that reason, I’m going to upload them all here at one time for the novelty of comparing them. :) Woohoo! Can’t wait.
ALSO: I have a set recorded via webcam of Cara and I covering ‘Restless’ by Langhorne Slim, but need to make time to edit the video.
Plans, plans, plans. So much to do, so little time.
The SONG: Saturnine - Recorded on two tracks with Abelton Live Lite.
The TIME: This started out as a poem and then I think Collin Ultz (who I was working with at the time) started playing this song and I had the perfect thing for it and it became one of those central tunes that we worked on. There’s also a version where we had taken a trip to the Eastern Shore and found this six-string bass player that also played double-bass on the drums… It sounds crazy and interesting all at the same time.
CREDITS: Vocals, Lyrics (written and performed) by Emma Lynn Matthews; Guitar (written and performed) by Collin Ultz; audio produced by Emma Lynn Matthews
Earliest Human Memory: My mom explaining to me how she knows the words to the songs on the radio…. OR hiding with the tupperware in the cabinets…. OR sitting with my mom while she read James and The Giant peach
